Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Last year, BT compared an old-model 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated Transit Luton van with a new model 2.4-litre Duratorq Transit Luton, both plated at 3.5 tonnes GVW. Despite the newer van having a slightly longer and lower body, the old Transit achieved an extra lmpg, a fact blamed on the tightness of the brand new example. This year the test was repeated. but this time with a fully run-in example. The result was a victory for the current model, by 44% on the high-speed section and 2.0% on the simulated urban run.
