Austin 25-cwt. Chassis with Baico Extension Carries Neat Plaxton Body with all the Refinements of a Big Coach

BY employing an Austin 25-cwt chassis, the wheelbase of which has been extended some 2 ft. 6 ins. by the Baico process, a luxurious and roomy 14-seater coach has been built by Plaxtons (Scarborough), Ltd., Seamer Road, Scarborough.

The overall length is 20 ft. and the passenger space measures 14 ft. 10 ins. The wheelbase is now 10 ft 3 ins., with 4-ft. overhang at the front and a 5-ft. 9-in. overhang at the rear. The width is 6 ft. 8 ins.

On the off side are four single seats spaced at 2-ft. 6-in, intervals, whilst on the near side is a sliding door and three pairs of double seats at 2-ft. intervals.

A full-width rear seat -accommodates four passengers. By this layout the weight is carefu-lly distributed. The luxury seats are of the Plaxton individual design.

The standard Plaxton Venturer 14seater has a solid roof with destination boxes and veneered panels on the front bulkhead. In an accompanying illus

tration, however, Perspex roof quarterlights will be noticed at the sides, front and rear. These are an optional extra supplied to the orders of the operator in question, R. Dickson, Jar. Ltd., of Dundee. At the rear is a car-type luggage-boot door, covering a locker with a capacity of 35-cubic ft.; luggage racks are provided in addition. The unladen weight of the vehicle in question is 2 tons 17 cwt.
