PER MISSION to operate a service between Glasgow and Prestwick airport for Trans-Canada Airlines, Pan-American Airways and Scandinavian Airlines passeng rs was granted to Northern Roadways Ltd., by the Scottish Licensing Auth rity last week.

It was regarded as mportant that such a service should provided, as many aircraft operated between midnight and 6 a.m., when there were no public transport factlit es. Mr. K. Burns, traffic manager 4 Prestwick for T.C.A., considered that normal services would be inadequate because there was an average of 23 person* per flight and each passenger carried two or three pieces of luggage. The Western S.M.T. ..Co., Ltd., objected to the application and took exception to the suggested inclusion in the terms of the licence to carry air passengers, 'their friends and persons using Prestwick airport." The proposed fare was 7s. 6d.—more than double the ordinary stage-carriage charge. The Authority, however, is to inform the parties concerned of the are he considers appropriate.
