has been appointed a member of the Transport (Appeal) Tribunal to succeed the late MR. E. S. SnitaaNELL-SMITH, C.B.E., F.C.S., M_INNT.T. A former president of the Commercial Motor Users' Association, he is at present a vice-chairman of the National Road Transport Federation, and a member of the executive of the Automobile Association. He was a director of Viney and Co., Ltd., and of Lancashire Petrol Deliveries, Ltd., until those concerns were nationalized.

MR. D. B. CoLLErr, vice-president and general manager of the Dunlop Tire and Rubber Goods Co., Ltd., Toronto, is returning to England to join the main board of the Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd., as an executive director. He will work in close association with MR. A. HEALEY, executive director in charge of all production. MR. J. P. ANDERSON, C.B.E.-, takes over Mr. Collett's pot in Canada. He was formerly chief purchasing agent of the Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd., a position to be assumed by MR. L. J. W. BAILEY, general manager of Dunlop Plantations, Ltd.

MR. A. W. ACKROYD has been appointed Glasgow branch manager of Scottish Midland Guarantee Trust, Ltd. He hopes to play a part in returning Scottish road transport to free hauliers.

MM. N. ALLAN HAY, A.M.I.MEori.E., has been appointed deputy chief mechranical engineer of Bombay State Road Transport Corporation. After the war, he organized U.N.R.R.A.'s transport system in the British zone of Germany.

MR. A. C. COOPER, M.S.M.A., has been appointed general manager of LT.D.; Ltd. He has been acting as general sales manager for the past six months and was previously United Kingdom divisional manager_ He joined the concern about five years ago and took charge of the design and development department.

INTERNATIONAL EXPANSION

THE president of the International Harvester Organization, Mr. John J. McCaffrey, accompanied by Mr. E. M. Ryan, vice-president in charge of foreign operations, arrived in England last Monday. The main purpose of their visit is to inaugurate the large expansion programme at the Doncaster factory of the International Harvester Co. of Great Britain, Ltd., and the president laid one of the foundation stones yesterday.

The new plant will supply increased quantities of tractors and other farm machinery to meet home and export demands. The organization as a whole employs about 100,000 people.
