Election 2010: keep up to date and tell us your views

PRIME MINISTER Gordon Brown has confirmed that the general election will take place on Thursday 6 May. Brown has promised to lead the country out of recession, while Conservative leader David Cameron says he will light for the "great ignored" including those who have started up businesses.

• The Liberal Democrats have said they would cut government funding for major road projects for the years to 2013/14 by 90% diverting some £.3.5bn to rail infrastructure. The party says some &Mtn intended for motorway widening and hard-shoulder running would go towards cutting rail fares. Last week Labour's Paul Clark said that cutting investment in the UK's road infrastructure budget would "undermine" the country's recovery from recession.
