Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TRUCKERSWORLD.CQUK is to compile truck crime data for incidents that are not always being reported to the police.

The website is calling for all drivers and operators to report any cases of fuel thefts, curtain slashing or other crimes they may not always consider worth reporting. owing to the belief the incidents will not be taken seriously.

Last year TruckPol axed the recording of diesel thefts under 1.000 litres, which means there are no longer statistics to gauge the scale of the problem.

Truckersworld founder Barrie Tozer asks: "If the police do not know about crimes, then how can we expect them to fight it? This is important in building up information. TruckPol no longer puts fuel theft into its statistics, which lowers the [overall] figures. If you get a six-inch slash in your curtain, it might not seem worth reporting, hut if it is happening to 100 vehicles every night, then the cost escalates."

Data from the online reporting scheme will be used to produce quarterly bulletins. detailing incidents and lorry crime hotspots. It will be passed on to the police, TruckPol, the Freight Transport Association (VIA) and the Road Haulage Association.

The "Truck Related Crime" form can be found at: w-ww.truckersworld.co.uk/form. aspx?Id=40

"We cannot expect to get more secure overnight facilities unless we can show an increase in crime and prove just how had it is getting," Tozer concludes, Don Armour, VIA manager of fleet information, adds: "Anything to help combat freight crime is a good thing. Truck crime is a big issue, so we are happy to support this initiative."
