Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I have a great deal of sympathy for those transport companies and owner-drivers who operate a good, clean and law-abiding operation, only to have this incompetent Government of ours dream up stupid laws and legislation to drive them to despair—and unfortunately some of them out of business.

On top of that you have joe public who hates lorries but would soon complain if he didn't get anything to eat or drink, and whose car driving skills leave a great deal to be desired.

The only thing I do want the Government to do is to get the cowboy operators off the road. Action is needed from them; not hot air.

Law-abiding truck drivers have nothing to fear from the police and VI inspectors at roadside checks.

I look forward every Thursday to getting my copy of Commercial Motor and wish it all the best for the future.

Bob Watson,

Peterborough, Cambs.
