Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Truck drivers who spotted a 30-50-year old man hitching a lift between Carlisle and York on 8 January are asked to contact the transport police in Leeds.

They would particularly like to speak to two drivers overheard in a chip shop in Thirsk, North Yorks talking about the smartly dressed man wearing a double breasted grey suit, a checked cap and a red-and-white gingham open-necked shirt.

The man, between 5ft 2in and 5ft Sin tall, was hit by a train just north of Thirsk. Anyone who saw him should contact Graham Cheyne of the British Transport Police on (0532) 411552.
