NORTH-WEST Mr. P. Goring, Walker Street. Preston, who was reported last week as having made a number of assignments from another address in Preston, has taken over another lorry (22 tons), based in Wigan, from Cusick (Oldham), Ltd., Oldham. He has also transferred a second lorry (42 tons) to Mr. W Johnson, 69 Liverpool Road. Burscough. Mr. J. W. Road, Wolverhampton: and Mr. W. G. Tomlin, 303 Mill Lane, Marshal's Cross. St. Helens. one (3 tons) from Mr. J. W. Ratcliffe, 189 Wigan Road, Ashton-inMakerfield. The North-Western Licensing Authority has granted a special A licence to each of the following, both of whom are repeat purchasers: Hunt Bros. (Culcheth), Ltd.. 132 Church Lane, Culcheth, near Warrington, for one vehicle (42 tons); and J. Rooney, Ltd., 180 Vine Street, Liverpool, 7, one (31 tons).

YORKSHIRE

Headland Transport. Ltd., Clough Bank, Edmund Road, Sheffield, have bought two lorries from B.R.S.. and Humber Stores Contractors, Ltd., 6-12 Prince's Dock Side, Hull, one. J. S. Stables (Kingsway Motors), Ltd., Dewsbury Road, Ossett, have assigned a lorry to Arthur Binns, Ltd., Dewsbury Road, Ossett.

WEST MIDLANDS

Eleven lorries (32 tons) bought by Mr. H. C. Walker, 4 Lea Hall Road. Handsworth, Birmingham, have now been transferred to Walker Bros., Transport, Lid., Wharf Street, Hockley. Shephard and Hough, Ltd.. Earlswood, near Birmingham. have acquired another two lorries (61 tons), and Messrs. S. and A. N. Talbot, 2 Wells Green Road, Sheldon, Birmingham, one (6 tons). Mr. D. Ralph. Del Mar, Leigh Sinton, Malvern, has made his first purchase. It comprises a lorry weighing 3 tons unladen.

Assignments recently authorized by the West Midland Licensing Authority are: J. L. Cooper, Ltd., Church Garage, Milton, Stoke-on-Trent, one vehicle (4": tons) assigned by Messrs. J. and A. One (31 tons) of five lorries (184 tons) recently purchased by Beresford Transport. Ltd.. High Street, Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent. has been transferred to Mr. B. Corfield, New Road, Newtown, Mont.

EAST MIDLANDS

Three Peterborough units have been bought by Mr. G. W. Pell, Station Road, Kirton, near Boston (see also last week). They are 5333, 5334 and 5484, and comprise five vehicles, including an articulated outfit (15 tons). Only one of the vehicles has been retained by Mr. Pell. the others having been transferred as follows: one to Messrs. Hannah Bros., Church End, Gednev. Lines; one to Mr. G. Bradley, The Grange, Eishtoft. Boston : one to Mr. H Greenway, New Bolingbroke, Boston, and the articulated outfit to Messrs. W. Staniland and Sons. Mill House, Broughton. Biigg, Mr. Pell has also taken over two lorries from Mr. A. Rhodes, Nottingham. SOUTHERN AREA E, F. Phillips and Sons, Ltd., Parksione. Dorset, have acquired three locally based lorries. It is their first purchase.

LONDON AND HOME COUNTIES Two articulated vehicles (4 tons) based at Aldingbourne have been purchased by Messrs. Dobbington and Walker, 5 Cowlease Road, Kingston-on-Thames. They made up unit 5145. Mr. C. R. Hitch, 49 Meadow Walk, Maidstone, Kent, has made a repeat purchase, this time of two vans from the Maidstone depot of B.R.S. Two lorries (11 tons 8 cwt.) have gone to Messrs. S A. and L. Protheroe (S. Protheroc and Son). 199 Biscot Road. Luton.

Mr. W. Mardell (Southern Cross Garages), Barnet By-pass, North Mimms. Hatfield, has taken over six lorries (18 tons) from Mr. G. Totty (Rush Green Motors), Langley, Hitchin, Herts.

Another two lorries have been assigned by F. J. Hill (Dunstable), Ltd., The Old Brewery, Dunstable. One (7 tons 5 cwt.) has gone to Mr. H. T. Grace, address not known, and the other (7 tons 14 cwt.) to Avery's Car Service. 94 Plantation Road, Leighton Buzzard. Other assignments authorized by the Metropolitan Licensing Authority are Mrs. A.
