THE inclusion of the horizontal 4HDC330 engine in the standard range of Henry Meadows, Ltd., was part of a development programme to expand home and overseas markets, Mr. A. D. Mackay, deputy chairman of the company, announced last week.

Mr. Mackay recently visited a number of countries behind the Iron Curtain, including Russia, China and East Germany, to establish a foundation for future exports. Nearly every country in the world has been visited by representatives of the company to investigate the market potential and promote service facilities.

The 4HDC330 engine is based on the vertical 330 unit. Changes in design include modifications to the sump and

cooling system. The engine weighs 950 lb. and has a depth of 24+ in. Without the oil-filler connection the overall width is 50 in.

To facilitate servicing and reduce the effects of grit and dust, the fuel pump is mounted on top of the engine. which arrangement has the added advantage that the length of the fuel pipes is reduced to a minimum.

The company have in the development stage a 630 unit fitted with dua turbo-chargers.
