THE Id. fare was on the way out and there was something to be said for the argument that it allowed people to travel at times when they aggravated peak traffic. Mr. James Amos. chairman of Scottish Omnibuses, Ltd., observed at the annual dinner of the Tees-side and District Section of the Institute of Transport.
He approved of the manner in which Licensing Authorities had ettabled operators to maintain services at an efficient level, but criticized the Government for devoting tax revenue from road users to purposes other than originally intended.
