A USTRALIA'S first refinery to prof-1 duce petroleum by catalytic crackng was officially opened on Monday )y Mr. Robert G. Menzies, Prime Winister of Australia. It has been built or the Australian refining subsidiary )f the Standard-Vacuum Oil Co., at kltona, 12 miles from Melbourne.
It will meet more than 16 per cent.
af the Commonwealth's demand for )etroleum products and 20 per cent. of ts petroleum requirements. Australia .xpects to save more than $2m. a year n foreign exchange.
