Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• lveco Ford has extended its summer shutdown period to four weeks to begin the first phase of a 12-month1217.7 million investment programme at its Langley plant. A large part of the investment is aimed at a second cab assembly line for Iveco models and full automation of its paint shop with the introduction of robotic equipment.

No decision has yet been announced as to the specific lveco models which will be produced alongside existing Cargos. Until now the two ranges have not overlapped.

The investment is seen as a commitment for the longer term retention of Langley as a UK manufacturing base; a point put in some doubt by a report commissioned by two local councils earlier this year (CM 8-14 June).
