Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

UIGFILIGHTS among the Park Royal exhibits at the Commercial Motor Show are bodywork for the recently announced A.E.C. Renown low-floor double-decker bus chassis, a forwardentrance version of the London Transport Routemaster and examples of the new coach design described and illustrated in The Commercial Moor of August 3.

Two examples of the A.E.C. Renown, both with Park Royal bodywork, will be at Earls Court. One, on the A.E.C., stand, will be a 3B3RA synchromesh gearbox model and will have a -71-seat body. In the demonstration park, a -75seat body on the 3B2RA chassis with Monocontrol transmission will be seen. Both of these have a height of 13 ft. 5 in. unladen and are of the forward-entrance type.

Thebody for the synchromesh chassis can be arranged to seat up to 74 by adding an extra row of three seats in front of the staircase on the upper deck.

• In other respects, the two versions are similar. Construction is steel-framed, with the main pillars extending in one length up to the upper-deck waist-rail. A sole-bar at the sides picks up the chassis outrigger brackets, giving a form of semi-integral construction. Full-depth aluminium truss panels in both decks enable the rear-end to be fully cantilevered. Exterior panelling is in aluminium except for the front and rear domes. which are in glass-fibre having a smooth finish on both sides.

Although the general appearance is similar to that of the previous A.E.C,-Park Royal Bridgemaster, retaining the flat-fronted upper deck slightly ,overhanging the driver's windscreen, for example, detail changes have been made. In particular, the rear dome has a rather more rounded profile, 'resulting in a markedly improved rear-end appearance.

The forward-entrance Routemaster, to he shown on the Park Royal stand, is based on the 30-ft.-long rear-entrance 72-seater version of this vehicle, of which 24 have been in London Transport service since last winter. The seating capacity of the new variant is 69 and the structure has been reinforced to compensate for the portions of the framing removed to form the entrance doorway. Further information on the design of this vehicle is given in the Passenger Transport section of this issue.

Charles H. Roe, Ltd., will be exhibiting an example of the special bodywork .on Daimler Fleetline rear-engined doubledecker chassis they are supplying to Sunderland Corporation. Based on the standard Park Royal-Roe metal-framed structure, the appearance is modified by the inclusion of a " peak " at the front and a reversed-slope rear upper-deck window. The seating capacity is restricted to 70 in the interest of comfort, a version of the Roe safety, staircase is incorporated and special attention has been paid to interior ddcor.

Also on the Roe stand will be a 41-seat single-deck bus body with front entrance and centre exit on A.E.C. Reliance chassis for Leeds City Transport. It has dimensions of 30 ft. by 8 ft. 2+ in., is of composite construction incorporating Burma teak pillars and has fixed wrapround windscreens.
