WINCANTON HAS LOST the Britvic transport contract to Eddie Stobart, but has signed a threeyear warehousing deal extension with the drinks manufacturer.

A Britvic spokeswoman says: "Britvic can confirm that its primary transport operation, currently managed by Wincanton, will transfer to Eddie Stobart, following a competitive tender process. It is anticipated that the transfer will be completed by 9 April 2011.

Eddie Stobart's three-year multimillion pound distribution deal will include deliveries into Britvic's UK manufacturing facilities and customer deliveries from the firm's DCs.

As a result,Wincanton, which has managed Britvic's distribution since 2007, has entered a consultation with 89 employees based at: Beckton, London; Leeds; Lutterworth, Leics; Norwich and Widford in Oxon. All affected staff will be eligible to transfer to Stobart under TUPE regulations.

Andrew "'Inkier, Stobart Group CEO, says: "Our business model and tracking systems increase client confidence by providing opera tional information that most other companies can't deliver."

Wincanton says: "We look forward to working in collaboration with Stobart to deliver a seamless customer service for Britvic."

As part of the shake-up, Wincanton has been given a threeyear contract renewal of its warehousing operation for Britvic's Lutterworth DC. It has also secured an additional storage unit in West Thurrock, Essex, for Britvie. The site will hold 5,000 pallets.

Bob Symons, Britvic logistics solutions manager, says: "We have been working with Wincanton for 16 years and it has continually delivered excellent service levels and provided solutions that meet changing demands."
