A SUCCESSFUL SCOTTISH haulier is quitting after 17 years, blaming excessive legislation, too much health and safety red tape and pressure from VOSA.
Jim Mulligan, boss of TUriffbased JMS Transport in Aberdeenshire, says: "It stops you doing the job. We were getting a lot of hassle fromVOSA over small things while bigger companies were getting away with more serious issues.
"Common sense has been forgotten and the Working Time Directive will spell the end for many transport companies in north-east Scotland. "They [VOSA] are never off your back with trivial issues.
JMS Transport moved farm machinery and plant, building up an annual turnover of £2m. The fleet will be auctioned by Malcolm Harrison at Tadgedale Quarry, Loggerheads, Market Drayton this Saturday.
