A feature is thatthe roof is made of un.impregnated, translucent material,. which. allowS light to enter the body. Mounted on aluminium stools and unclear-an-le, the body has a timber frame and floor la in. thick. Body weight is only III cwt. as the plastics' material. is 25 per cent. lighter than light alloy of similar gauge.
The rear wings weigh 6 lb. each, compared with 8} lb. for aluminium _ wings or 21 lb. for steel. Like the body panelling, they arc highly resistant . to impact damage. Plastics uSed for the bodies of foodstuffs vans have been found to have valuable inherent thermal insulation properties.
Separate panels and wings impregnated with the appropriate colour can be supplied to customers' orders, in addition to the manufacture of complete bodies. The company are also making cab roofs in one piece of plastics.
A separate section for the production of plastics components and further experimental work has been set up.
