So far as is known, only one of these machines is in use; in Sussex operated jointly by the fair trading authority and the DoE. Further trials are being held to satisfy the DoE that any variation of weight that might be obtained under different circumstances will be at a level acceptable to operators and enforcement people alike. When these trials are concluded, it is expected that the machines will be used countrywide following a proving period at ports.
