Stand M5—Fodens Ltd.

TWO tractive units both fitted with the recently announced S83 cab can be seen on the stand of the Cheshire independent. One features a Cummins NHC 250 engine developing 180kW (240bhp) coupled to a Foden eight-speed gearbox while the other uses a Gardner 6LXB with the same transmission. The Gardner engine has been reintroduced to the tractive unit range 'as a result of customer demand. The wheel base of both tractive units is 3.12m (loft 3in).

Representing Fadens' current range of rigid vehicles at Kelvin Hall is a 6LXB powered eight-wheeler with a wheelbase of 6.5m (21ft 4in). The Faden eight-speed box is again used.

The eight-wheeler is fitted with a Mark II version of the glassfibre S80 cab. The main shell of 'the S83 cab on the tractive units is a one-piece grp moulding incorporating a steel-reinforced front bulkhead while the vulnerable areas have detaChable panels.
