Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A MOVE into coach operation has been made by West Midland Passenger Transport Executive. Officers of the Executive have been authorised by the county council to finalise arrangements for the 'take-over of the 34-vehicle fleet of Allenways Coaches of Birmingham.

At present the PTE undertakes private hire work in ordinary fare-stage vehicles, bringing in about £400,000 income per year.

A spokesman told CM that the coach firm would continue to be run as a separate undertaking. Existing staff would be retained and the company would continue to make a profit.

The Allenways base is near Elmdon Airport and the new exhibition centre at Bickenhill, which the PTE expects to generate a great deal of 'business.

Three other PTEs at present run coach fleets. West Yorkshire owns Hanson Coaches, Tyne and Wear run Galleys and Greater ,Manchester runs Selnec Travel.
