CM COVER STORY

THE FUTURE OF Birmingham-based van-maker WV was hanging in the balance as CM went to press, with the company holding last-ditch talks with potential bidders.

Last week, LDV applied to go into administration, and the firm stated it would keep looking for funding right up until its application was processed yesterday (6 May), to save 850 jobs at the plant in Washwood Heath.

Employees were advised by the company to collect their payslips from the factory last Tuesday.

Malaysian vehicle importer Weststar has been tipped as a possible bidder.

Guy Jones, LDV marketing director, says: We can't comment on any potential bids, Out talks have continued with interested parties over the weekend, and we hope that a deal can be secured."
