Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Eaton has deleted the oil drain plug from the mark four version of its 6109 gearbox which has recently gone into production. To drain the oil on the latest version the oil strainer should be removed.

While the oil drains the strainer should be cleaned with a suitable solvent and dried. If the washer and 0-ring are undamaged they can he reused. When refitting the strainer should be torqued to 4047Nm (30-35Ih ft).

Drain periods and oil specifications on the mark four version are the same as on earlier models, Over 100 gearboxes have been supplied under the Eaton/ERE direct-ship service between its launch in mid Jan and the end of March. Under the scheme exchange gearboxes are delivered from Eaton's Gloucester reconditioning plant directly to ERF dealers and not through Middlewich.

Eaton stocks 120 remanufactured transmissions covering its entire truck range. It says the paperwork only takes one hour allowing a gearbox to he dispatched within two.
