Berlin's Taxicabbies.

Our Berlin Correspondent writes :" The differences between the motor taxi-drivers and employers in Berlin have been referred to a joint commission for settlement on the basis of a new tariff convention, which must be ready by the 6th June at the latest. Meanwhile, drivers are working under the old conditions. Considering the powerful competition offered by the street cars, motorbuses and railways, as well as horsed cabs and horsed omnibuses, the absence of the motorcabs from the Berlin streets would have caused no great inconvenience to the travelling public, and the idea of settlement by a joint commission is a thoroughly practical conception in the circumstances."

Tilsley to Epsom.

Mr. F. Lord, of the King's Arms Hotel, Tilstey, has arranged a trip to London and Epsom, to view the Derby, extending from 6.15 a.m, on the 26th May to 10.30 p.m. on the 28th idem. The round journey will total about 450 miles, and a charge of 23 per seat inclusive will include bed and breakfast for two nights at "a first-class hotel," luncheon on the outward and return journeys, admission to the course, and luncheon there. These rates are indeed tending to rival the claims of steamship travelling to be the cheapest ; it will be observed that the inclusive charge is less than 1id. per mile. A handsome Commercar char-à-banes will be used, and we may remark that Mr. Lord is responsible for no fewer than six chars-à-banes of this make. His arrangements are typical of many others in hand by char-h.-banes owners.
