IN your issue dated February 21, R. Allison, of Pickford's I Heavy Haulage, appeared sceptical about the performance claimed for the Rotinoff Super Atlantic tractor. I cannot speak for that vehicle, but its performance figures are not unrivalled. The Thornycroft Mighty Antar, powered by a Roils-Royce Meteorite V-8 petrol engine and hauling a Sankey 60-ton trailer, has a gross train weight of around 100 tons when carrying a Tank of over 65 tons.
