Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

BY A SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT

TWO members of the Road Haulage Association, who operate about 200 vehicles between them in Hull, have decided to oppose all applications in the area for additional vehicles: They are Mr. John Hewson, of Hewson Bros. (Hull), Ltd., and Mr. Harold Hunter, of Hunters of Hull (Transport), Ltd. Mr. Hewson is chairman of Hull Area of the R.H.A. They told me last week that they believed too many vehicles were being licensed. and that a 10-per-cent, cut would benefit everyone in the industry. It was not R.H.A. policy . to object to every application, but they intended to follow that course

• consistently.

Mr. Hewson and Mr. Hunter .pointed out that many small operators dare not object to bigger companies' applications for fear of victimization, because the large concerns sub-contracted work to them. This position would now be remedied.
