This journal is extensively read by the heads of many wealthy commercial houses.

Our leading articles this week inevitably contain a reference to the coal strike. We discern in it yet another incentive to the purchase of commercial motors.

Pages 12 and 13 of this issue should be read by all parties who are interested in the production of high-class worm-gearing and other motor-vehicle parts. Their contents are due to a special visit which was paid by a member of the Editorial staff of this journal on Friday last..

Home and Colonial Opinion.

"The Newspaper Owner," of the 24th ult., makes this complimentary reference to us :—" THE COMMERCIAL MOTOR for this week has an exhaustive illustrated report of the Manchester Motor Exhibition, and naturally devotes itself more especially to motor vehicles suited for commercial delivery, municipal and ambulance purposes. The number is an excellent one."

" The Toronto World," of the 18th ult., says this about our Overseas Annual of December last.:—" It is a most interesting and noteworthy publication, showing as it does the enormous size to which the commercial-motor business has grown in the old country. The issue in question treats of every sort of motor hauling, from the light delivery van to the heaviest form of agricultural

tractor or road locomotive. . Anyone interested in motor trucking should make a point of seeing the Overseas Annual of THE COMMERCIAL MOTOR." "Drive Near Left Kerb."

The National Vehicle Owners Association, which is an influential organization of horse-owners with its headquarters at Birmingham, and is one constituent body of the Midland centre of the Roads Improvement Association, has agreed to circulate" Drive near left kerb " notices to be hung in the stables of its members.

More Motor mails.

The Postmaster-General invites tenders for the conveyance of the parcel mail between London and Bournemouth, and full particulars may be obtained from the Controller, G.P.O., London. Each van must have a load capacity of 45 cwt. of mails. The specification provides that the two side lamps must be placed at, the extreme sides of each vehicle, in such positions as to be free from all ob tructions to the light. Contracts will run for a term of three years from the 1st September next. This service will be the next longest in the country to that between London and Bristol, but the loads of parcels carried will be heavier than on the London-Bristol road.

Wood-Milne Tires.

Before and during the recent show at Manchester, we had the opportunity to discuss Wood-Milne steel-rubber tires with a number of people who know something about them. Experience during the past two years has satisfied themanufacturers upon several points of detail in production, with the result that there appears to be every reason to anticipate that existing

high mileage records will be exceeded in the near future. The correct percentage of steel-wool, for incorporation in the mixture, has been determined with great accuracy.

Any of the several following depots of Wood-Milne, Ltd., can supply further particulars concerning both solid and pneumatic tires : Preston, Ribblebank Mills ; London, 6, Manchester Avenue, Aldersgate Street, E.C. ; Glasgow, 10, Waterloo Street ; Belfast, 149, Donegal Street ; Bristol, 36, Narrow Wine Street; Paris, 212, Ter. Boulevard Pereire ; Buenos Aires, 544, Bartolome Mitre.
