HUBBARD, the Suffolk-based truck refrigeration specialist, has been sold to Italian firm Zanotti.

MD Patrick Maughan is staying on and all 165 jobs at the Otley firm are believed to be safe, as is the factory.

Maughan says: "We aren't in a position to make a statement on future employment because we are in an analysis stage. but the plan is to grow the company so the natural consequence of that would be more employment.not Hubbard was founded in 1969 but has been in the hands of venture capitalists for the past eight years. Although no one from the Hubbard family is involved with the firm, there are no plans to change the name because of its strong identity in the market.

In 2006 Hubbard became the first UK manufacturer to win Carbon Trust accreditation for its high-efficiency cooling systems. A TWO-DAY conference on cutting diesel emissions will be held in Gothenburg. Sweden on 10-12 September.
