Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

It's the moment many hauliers say they've been waiting for—it's finally time to vote. Whether enough votes will swing against Labour as a result of intolerable fuel duty, punitive fines for carrying illegal immigrants or the horrendous state of Britain's roads to actually unseat them seems highly unlikely. But don't let that put you off at least making your feelings known: hauliers around Britain must take this opportunity to tell the Labour government how they feel.

Our survey last week (CM 31 May6 June) showed that nearly 70% of you planned to vote Conservative, based chiefly on their promise to cut fuel duty by 6p/lit. Fair enough, if you can swallow voting for the party that introduced the fuel duty escalator in the first place. But it doesn't really matter who you vote for, as long as Labour loses your vote. Nothing less will send the necessary message to Messrs Blair, Brown and Macdonald that continuing their current policy of shafting the transport sector simply isn't sustainable.

In an environment in which hauliers fear further increases in fuel costs because of oil prices, in which the European Commissioner for Transport says fuel taxes are too disparate, and in which fresh UK fuel duty protests have failed to make any real impact, it's crucial that you take your chance today and use your vote to make your feelings clear.

We've all talked about it for months; now it's time for action. So use your vote wisely. You might not see an end to the government that has brought you so much misery— but you could help give them some very serious food for thought about future policy. And that would be no bad thing.
