will be making a splash at IWM: Spanish firm Ras Roca has been in the UK market for just five years, but has actually been in business since 1895. The firm claims to be Europe's biggest manufacturer of municipal equipment—it owns German RCV manufacturer SchOrling. The firm's UK products are split between smooth-sided compactor bodies (built in Spain and branded as RSE-Cross) and more traditional-looking Schorling vehicles.
Ros Roca is emphasising its compliance with forthcoming European legislation on noise emissions from truck-mounted equipment. Directive 2000/14/EC will come into force next year, limiting noise levels to 80dB(A). UK sales manager Colin McMorine says: "Our equipment is extremely quiet and we'll have no problem meeting any requirement". He adds that noise suppression is taken seriously in Spain, where most refuse collection is handled at night.
Res Roca's exhibits at the IWM Show will include a large compactor for industrial use mounted on an 8x4 Foden Alpha chassis, and a Seddon Atkinson BA built for Fiveways Hire. The firm will also be introducing its own range of bin clamps, which will be offered alongside products from Terberg, Otto and Zoller.
