Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

According to figures released by the Department of Transport, the ports in the north of Britain handled the largest volumes.

Last year the total amount of freight coming through the UK's 52 ports rose by 2% to 577 million tonnes—these figures include all freight; not just containerised traffic. However, inbound traffic rose by 11.3 million tonnes while exports remained virtually the same.

Both Grimsby and Tees overtook London as the ports moving the greatest volumes of goods during 2000.
