MIDLANDS British Road Services has appointed new managers at two of its branches — Chris Harlow becomes branch manager at Redditch and Ken Allen at Tamworth.

Chris Harlow, joined BRS in 1 974 from Lancaster University and after a year on a manage' merit development course became contracts assistant at Midlands BRS head office in Oxford. He then spent a year on the road as a sales 'executive and for the last 18 months has been truck rental manager at their Gloucester branch.

Ken Allen has been in the transport industry for over a dozen years and was previously transport supervisor at the central distribution unit of Chloride Automotive at Cannock.

Lord Lucas of Chilworth has accepted the invitation to be president of the Institute of Traffic Administration and takes

office from May, 1 980.

Lord Lucas is a Conservative hereditary Peer and has sat in the House of Lords since 1 968 and is a prominent speaker on the transport industry. He is concerned with industrial training, education and energy matters.

Paul Rivett has been appointed managing director of National Carriers Eastern Region (CM May 31). He was previously based at National Carriers Head Office Paddington as Group 'Director of General Distribution. Raul who originally comes from Norwich has been with National Carriers some five years and was previously a senior consultant with Unigate where he was involved in Marketing Production and Distribution.

He joined National Carriers at the beginning of 1975 as Marketing Manager for General Distribution. He was appointed Head of Marketing at the end of 1976 and became Group Director responsible for the small freight parcels side of the business just fifteen months ago.

Douglas Moore has been appointed Managing Director of the Southern Region of National Carriers (CM May.31). Douglas who started his career as a clerk with L.M.S. railway in Glasgow in 1945 will be responsible for the biggest region in National Carriers with a turnover of

almost £36 million. He was a railway management trainee in 1954.

In June 1974 he was appointed Territorial Director of National Carriers Midlands and South Wales area and became Regional Director of the cornpany's Eastern Region in 1976.
