EUROPEAN Ferries annual report for 1979 shows a marginal rise in profit over 1978. The company's pre tax profit just touched the £27m mark. Once again the road haulage strike earlier in the year was blamed as a contributory fac. tor together with fuel price increases.
Two freight companies which had gone into liquidation with substantial bad debts further eroded the company's performance.
The group's turnover rose from £151.9m to £170.7m which shows approximately 16 percent pretax profit on turnover.
