Dxford and Abingdon, has been appointed to the 'sew post of BMC director of quality and reliability. Mr. Lord will continue to be based at Cowley. A. C. Thompson, 43, divisional director of BMC Radiators division factories at Oxford and Llanelli has seen appointed a director of production. Based at Longbridge, Mr. Thompson will be responsible for the Morris, MG. Radiators and Vanden Pies divisions of the corporation. J. Winstone, 47, deputy to Mr. Thompson at Radiators division, becomes divisional manager of this division.
D. A. F. Quekett has been elected national chairman of the Institute of Materials Handling in succession to R. S. Fairfax. Mr. Quekett, who joined the Institute in 1954, later became chairman of the Southern division and was national treasurer from 1963 to 1966. He is a project research officer with the Western region of British Railways. R. J. T. Hewitt has been appointed deputy national chairman, H. E. E. Coleman and J. R. Miller are vice3hairmen.
Bernard Griffiths has been appointed a director of the Western Welsh Omnibus Co. Ltd. in place of R. A. Taylor who resigned. Mr. Griffiths is chairman of neighbouring bus companies. including Red and White Services Ltd.
P. A. Thompson has been appointed general manager—Transport in the Supplies and Transport division of the British Steel Corporation in London. Mr. Thompson was previously transport controller with the Rank Organization Ltd, Aid. W. G. E. Dyer has been elected chairman for 1968/69 of Nottingham's transport committee. Aid. Sir Sidney P. Hill is vicecha irman.
Toby Jesse!, 33, has been elected chairman of the Greater London Council's roads and traffic management (south) sub-committee, in succession to Richard Butterfield, who has resigned.
Geoffrey Chambers, 42, has been appointed sales director, Road Tanker division, and joins the board of the Yorkshire Engineering and Welding Co. (Bradford) Ltd. Mr. Chambers joined the company when it was founded in 1941. C. A. G. Hickman has been appointed fleet engineer of Midlands Storage (Transport Services) Ltd.. West Hallam, Derbys. Mr. Hickman, who was formerly depot manager at Cromford, succeeds J. R. Smith who has been appointed divisional transport manager. Hoveringham Stone Ltd. Mr. Hickman has been succeeded at Cromford by H. E. Ward.
A. R. Butt has been nominated to succeed W. McMillan as a representative of the employers on the Road Haulage Wages Council.
R. Newsome has been appointed secretary and accountant of the Yorkshire Woollen District Transport Co. Ltd. in succession to N. Crawford who has taken up the appointment of secretary and accountant of Northern General Transport Co. Ltd. Mr. Newsome was formerly assistant to the secretary and accountant of Yorkshire Woollen.
Peter R. Langham, 44, has been appointed general sales manager, Rubery Owen and Co. Ltd. Mr. Langharn joined P. A. Management Consultants (then Personnel Administration Ltd.) in 1956.
Tom Normanton, director, Kysor Industrial (Great Britain) Ltd., Rochdale, which specializes in commercial vehicle radiator temperature control equipment, is a prospective Conservative candidate for Cheadle. Ches. Mr. Normanton is a special member (employers) of the Prices and Incomes, Board.
G. S. Brown has been appointed BRS Parcels Ltd., assistant engineer. Head office. He was formerly an engineering assistant. BRS Federation Ltd.
John E. Vickers has been elected chairman of the IFITE (South Wales centre); E. V. Thomas and S. R. Anderson are vice-chairmen.
K. H. Millett and R. Sims have been appointed sales engineers by Id-Wall Containers Ltd. Mr. Millett will work in Lancashire and Cheshire; Mr. Sims will be located in the East Midlands.
F. G. Holmes has been appointed finance director, Geo. W. King Ltd., of Stevenage. Mr. Holmes was previously with the Chesterfield Tube Co. Ltd.. another Tube Investments company. W. P. Warren has been appointed sales director, joining the company from the Powell Duffryn Group. D. M. King has relinquished the post of chairman, but remains on the board as president.
