• Transport and General Workers Union negotiators have decided against backing the call for guerrilla strikes by 32,000 London Transport busmen.

They are to seek further talks with LTB on the El-a-week pay and productivity deal which has been rejected by the Government.

Clearly, however, the protest-strike call from garage delegates remains in the background as a threat to hasten the negotiations. The Government ruled that there were not sufficient productivity concessions in the busmen's proposed deal to allow £1-a-week rises under the wages policy; Ministers ruled that the concessions which had been agreed were worth no more than 15s a week.
