Mr. K. C. McCarthy, a director of Castrol Ltd., has been appointed assistant managing director of Castro! Overseas Ltd., with effect from June I. Mr. E. Eric Hughes, previously sales manager, Castrol Division, has been appointed general manager. The new sales manager will be Mr. Colin J. Harris.

Mr. W. H. White, director of Kingston Hill Motor Works Ltd., has been appointed salts director of the Godfrey Group, multiple Vauxhall/Bedford main dealers. Mr. White has been connected with the motor trade for the past 40 years, Pirelli Ltd. announces the appointment of Mr. F. Lurani as works manager at its Burton-on-Trent factory in succession to Mr. G. Veronesi, who will shortly be appointed general manager.

Mr. L. J. E. Beeson has been appointed director of industrial relations for Ford of Britain, succeeding Mr. H. H. Jeffries, who will remain an executive director.

Smith's Delivery Vehicle Group, Gateshead-on-Tyne, announces the appointment of Mr. J. H. Adler as technical director. Mr. Adler was formerly the group's chief engineer.

Mr. Gill, chief traffic officer of Leeds City Transport, retires on July 6, when he is 65. He has held this position since 1942. Mr. Thomas Lord, general manager of Leeds City Transport, has been nominated to the management committee of the International Union of Public Transport.

Mr. A. Kissack, a local director of Thos. W. Ward Ltd., Sheffield, has been elected to the council of the Machine Tool Trades Association.

In an expansion of the ?vlatbro forklift truck division sales force, Mr. J. C. L. Smith will handle sales in Scotland, Mr. D. A. Radford and Mr. S. H. Ronayne will strengthen the North Midlands and East Midlands representation and Mr. A. IV. Voke and Mr. B. A. /1111 are joining the Southern area.

Mr. E. C. Collins has been appointed area representative in charge of the new Eddison Plant Ltd. depot at Swindon, Wilts. Mr. Borton Garfield has been appointed director and general manager of Eaton Axles Ltd., Warrington, in succession to Mr. R. K. Nelson who is returning to the U.S.A. Mr. Garfield has been engaged in the sales and engineering of Eaton axles with the Eaton Manufacturing Co., Cleveland, U.S.A.

Mr. A. R. Perrin, assistant chief engineer of the West Yorkshire Road Car Co. Ltd. for the p st 14 years, has retired. Mr. Perrin, who had served with the company for 27 y ars in all, received a presentation from Mr. H. N. 'ruff, general manager, an behalf of the staff, at a farewell luncheon in Harrogate.

Mr. J. M. A. Smith, formerly assistant managing director of Ford Motor Co. Ltd., is one of two new members appointed to the Monopolies Commission by the ,President of the Board of Trade.

Mr. A. Whitfield, personnel officer of British Road Services, is to retire on July 15, and will be succeeded by Mr. P. J. Brett. Mr. Whitfield became divisional staff officer for the North Western division of B.R.S. in 1950 and in 1955 was appointed personnel officer.

Mr. Graham B. rrebnck has been appointed Midland atea sales representative for Wipac Group Sales Ltd.

Mr. I. J. Billera has been elected a member of the board of U.S. Industries Inc.: he was already execut:ve vicepresident of the company.

At the annual general meeting of the British Mechanical Rubber Manufacturers' Association, held in London on May 9, the following officers were elected for 1963-64: Mr. W. H. Sanderson, chairman and Mr. C. W. Snelling, vicechairman, Mr. L. W. R. Morley has been appointed chairman , of the three Vacu-Lug companies,' Grantham. Mr. D. F. Parker takes bver as managing director, with Mr. F. Viddowson technical director.

The Astley Leasing Company Ltd. announces the appointment of Mr. D. E. Broom as regional manager for the Midlands area.

Mr. R. K. F. McInnes has been appointed by the Astley Leasing Co. Ltd. as its representative for Scotland. He will operate from Cornhill House, 144 West George Street, Glasgow, C.2.

Three new appointments have been made to the Wingard Ltd. sales force. They are: Mr. R. Barker, representative for the Lancashire territory; Mr. H. G. Speakman, representative for the East Anglian territory; and Mr. G. D. Macdonald, represent t five for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Astley Industrial Trust Ltd. announces that Mr. L. Powell has been appointed manager of branches (in addition to present duties of new business manager). Mr. R. C. Simpson becomes Northern area manager; Mr. A. J. McLachlan, North West area manager; Mr. R. E. Hatton, Manchester office manager, and Mr. H. Jubb, Leeds branch manager.
