RECALLING the substantial volume 1A. of Anglo-Polish trade before the war, British vehicle manufacturers are to give support to the Poznan Fair, Poland, which will be held from June 9-23. The United States will be exhibiting at Poznan for the first time this year.
A Worldmaster luxury coach, which Leyland Motors, ttd., will display, is one of five which Orbis, the Polish State travel agency, will operate for trips to Warsaw by foreign tourists. Another order is in hand for a further 10 coaches, and 10 buses arc also to be supplied.
The vehicle has a 125 b.h.p. engine for the sake of standardization with 100 of 200 buses which Leyland have supplied to Poland in recent years. The normal power unit is of 150 b.h.p. A feature new to Polish operators is the Pneumo-Cyclic transmission.
Bodywork has been built by Dansk Automobil Byggeri, Denmark.. Fortyfour seats and two doors are provided.
An Albion Clydesdale bonneted chassis and cab will be shown for the first time at Pdznan. It is powered by a Leyland 5.76-litre engine, which drives through an Albion five-speed gearbox. Exhibits will be completed by a Leyland Comet lorry and a model of Seammell coupling gear.
The Rootes Group will exhibit a Commer 7-ton tipper and a long-wheelbase 7-ton chassis, also a Karrier Bantam chassis, all with two-stroke oil engines.
A.C.V. Sales, Ltd., are sending a Mammoth III tractor coupled to an Eagle 21-ton semi-trailer. The outfit is to be driven to Poznan via the TilburyAntwerp ferry, cross the Iron Curtain at Helmstedt, and carry machinery products of the A.C.V. Group.
The semi-trailer has detachable rear axles and dual-line air-pressure braking. The load platform is 18 ft. tong and 8 ft. wide. Two robust steel loading ramps are provided.
