nVER 2.000 applications were received by Butlins, Ltd., in response to their offer (The Commercial Motor, May 31) to pay £1,000 to a haulier who could carry their elephant from Ayr to Butlin's holiday camp at Fi ley.
Butlins are to build their own cage and have the animal carried on a machinery transporter. A final meeting was held on Wednesday to select the successful tenderer. It was still in progress when The Commercial Motor closed for press.
