Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ONE OF Britain's oldest hauliers, SW Wreford & Sons, has acquired Northampton rival P Chaplin & Sons for an undisclosed sum.

The purchase comprises P Chaplin's 20 vehicles and 30 trailers, and 40 employees transferring under TUPE regulations to 107-year-old operator SW Wreford.

Fleet director Andy Wreford says the company was approached six months ago by P Chaplin MD Thomas Chaplin who wants to retire.

"We have actually shared some customers, such as paper firm Robert Ham, for a number of years. It has a good general haulage customer base and this is a great expansion for us," says Wreford.

The combined businesses will have a turnover of £10m, and a fleet of 80 vehicles. Integration of the firms will be a gradual process.

SW Wreford has signed a lease on a seven-and-a-half acre site, adding to its existing five acre yard. It will exit P Chaplin's facility when the lease on it expires.
