Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE TRANSPORT industry in the West Midlands is to benefit from 350 new drivers on the back of large-scale redundancies in the car manufacturing sector.

Demand for driver training courses has rocketed following the closure of the MG Rover car plant in Birmingham and cutbacks at Peugeot in Coventry.

Birmingham and Solihull Learning and Skills Council says it has drawn up individual training plans for around half of the 5,000 workers who lost their jobs.

Spokeswoman Debbie Goode says 300 of them have already started LGV class C training and a further 40 are due to start this week (4-8 July).

"We're trying to balance what the economy needs with what the individuals are interested in.There are lots of retail opportunities locally but ex-MG Rover workers don't see themselves as being particularly interested in that sector.

She adds that due to the large numbers involved, the council has been able to specially commission driving courses for the redundant workers.
