Minister's Decisions to Take Effect on October I TIIE Minister of Transport has issued Orders in connection with the appeals of a number of operators against certain decisions of the Metropolitan Traffic Commissioner and the Coramissioners of the adjacent areas. These Orders represent the draft Orders, dispatched from the Ministry on April 28, In their final form. The draft proposals were dealt with in our issue dated May 5.

The decisions will become effective on October 1 next, and they concern the appeals falling in Groups I to VII in the second report of the Amalree Committee. The Minister is to announce his decisions on the appeals referred to as Group VIII, at such time as will enable them to take effect from October 1.

In most eases, the Orders do not fix detailed time-tables and do not, in any ease, fix the detailed fare-table. Green Line Coaches, Ltd., which made most of the appeals, informed the Minister that it wished to operate certain through services from one side of London to another. The company has assured the Minister that, in these cases, the London terminals will be used only for picking up and setting down passengers and that vehicles will not delay there longer than is necessary for the purpose.

The Orders also provide for less-thansummation fares on these through services. In a communication from the Ministry, it is stated that "in considering, with the other Commissioners concerned, the extent to which these composite fares shall be allowed, the Metropolitan Traffic Commissioner will, no doubt, bear chiefly in mind the desirability of avoiding the charge of an additional minimum fare of 1s. single or Is. 6d. return for that part of the through journey which extends for only a short distance beyond the London terminal."

As announced in our issue dated May 5, coaches are allowed to penetrate the caltral area of London and carry out a turn in the form of a loop, in lieu of a terminal point, with one picking-up point on the circuit.

The Minister's de,cisions upon the appeals of a number of concerns, as enumerated in ft letter accompanying the first batch of draft Orders, will be made just prior to October 1 next.

The operators concerned with the Orders, just made are as follow: Green Line Coaches, Ltd.; Redcar Services, . Ltd. ; Premier Line, Ltd.; Ledbury Transport Co., Ltd.; Amershara and District Motor Bus and Haulage Co., Ltd.; Premier Omnibus Co.; Cream Line; and Acme Pullman Services, Ltd.
