WEST SUSSEX-BASED haulier PJ Brown has gone into administration, making 150 employees redundant just before Christmas.

On 22 December. Phil Armstrong and Ian Vickers of Vantis Business Recovery Services, were appointed joint administrators to the tirrn.

According to Vantis, the subsidiary parts of the PJ Brown group arc "unaffected and continue to trade as going concerns".

"We are working closely with the director to assess the value of realisations from the business,

with a view to illarke Ling it for sale for the benefit of the company's creditors," Vickers says.

VOSA records reveal PJ Brown holds an 0-licence for 69 vehicles and one trailer. VOSA says it has contacted the firm "to seek clarification on what subsidaries its runs following reports trucks are still being operated from the premises. The firm's trucks were all recalled to its yard between Christmas and the new year.

Plymouth accountants Neville & Co will handle the administration, although it declined to provide details about the firm's demise.

According to its most recent set of accounts, for the year ending 30 September 2008. the firm was still in the black, generating a pre-tax profit of £48.037. an improvement on the previous year of around £26,000.
