FIRIVERS of C-licence vehicles have

benefited from wage increases of Ild, per hour recently approved by the National Joint Council for the Ballast and Sand Industry. The neW rates came into effect immediately after the pay day in the week ended December 18.

Employers who were already operating a -higher basic wage in accordance with Clause 7 (7) of the Council's wage agreement, were exempted from such portion of the new increase as was already in operation.

The Council approved the payment of overtime at double-time rates for Sunday work, and the introduction of an extra day's holiday at ordinary-time rates.
