NATIONAL BUS deputy chief executive Frank Pointon left the company on January 31, by mutual consent. Mr Pointon, who also was board member for external affairs, has been with NBC since its formation in 1969, and for 20 years before that he was with British Electric Traction which sold its British bus interests to NBC. He was general manager of Hebble and East Midland, before becoming a BET director in 1960, five years before his appointment as chairman of Potteries Motor Traction. His family ran buses and coaches in North Staffordshire, Bristol Omnibus`Company chief engineer Philip Robinson is retiring early, at the end of next month, after 15 years in the post.
And still at NBC, Derek Yeo has replaced Clive Bryant as Trent's chief engineer. Formerly the company's assistant chief engineer, Mr Yeo started with Midland Red in 1958, and worked at Southdown, and City of Oxford, before joining Trent in 1977.
Greenford, Middlesex-based Butlers Warehousing and Distribution Ltd has appointed Hugh Griffith and Tony Jordan to its board.

His predecessor, David Allen, has joined Swedish engine noise re-, duction specialist Antiphon as, its managing director of European operations.
Transport Minister Norman Fowler's special adviser Ian Heggie, one of the architects of the 1980 Transport Act, has resigned.
