Mr Meredith was previously secretary of the British Ready Mixed Concrete Association, and Mr Townsin had been with West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive as press and publicity officer since 1972. He had previously been editor of Bus and Coach.
Albert Bissett, 27, has succeeded A. C. Tweedhope, who has left Pickfords Removals Ltd, as Motherwell branch manager. Mr Bissett joined Pickfords in 1970 and was appointed Windermere manager in 1972.
C. J. liulshorst, managing director of DAF Motors (GB) Ltd, has resigned from that company as of February 28 and is to return to Holland, where he will be taking another position in the industry.
R. G. Bennett has been appointed managing director of the Yeates Group of Companies. Mr Bennett succeeds C. Yeates, who remains chairman of the Group. Mr Bennett joined W. S. Yeates Ltd in 1961 and has been sales director of the company since 1963.
G. Chaplin (managing director of George Chaplin Transport, Bexleyheath) has been elected chairman of the Transport Managers Club, London area. D. Lyon (Southern BRS Ltd) is president, and F. Abdee (Thomas Paine Ltd) and A. Miles (Ruberoid Ltd) are vicepresidents. The vice-chairman is G. Stacey (md of G. Stacey & Son Transport Ltd) Kenneth Garfield Jones, 51, has been appointed general service manager of Magirus Deutz (GB) Ltd. He was previ ously gsm with ERF, and has been in the heavy vehicle business all his working life. He was for many years a fleet engineer and then an executive with a Liverpool transport group.
David Roberts, 39, has joined Volkswagen (GB) Ltd as parts and accessories marketing manager in succession to Jerry Partis, Bob Paternan, spare parts manager for C.V. (Sales & Repairs) Ltd, has retired owing to health reasons.
David Selby, 19, apprentice refinisher with Harrogate Motors Ltd and student at Jacob Kramer College, Leeds, has won the 1974 Apprentice Refinisher of the Year Award sponsored jointly by the Vehicle Builders and Repairers Association and Berger Paints. He received a silver trophy and cheques for £90.
Ian Wanless has beer' appointed fleet sales manager for the Scotts of Nottingham Ltd Group. For the past nine years he has held positions within the Seddon/Atkinson division of the Group.
