Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

BY reference to the compendium of passenger chassis printed below, much useful information concerning any model now offered in Great Britain can quickly be obtained.

The particulars presented comprise, in the case of internal-combustion-engined vehicles, the seating capacity for which it is suitable, the nature of the power unit (petrol or oil), the number of cylinders, their bore and stroke, the total piston-swept volume, whether the chassis is constructed for normal or forward control, its wheelbase length, and overall length, the space available for a body and the height of the frame.

With regard to trolleybuses the power of the motor is stated instead of the engine particulars.

The majority of models in the first section are offered by their makers at a fixed chassis price. This is stated. Certain machines, including all trolleybuses, are built to a considerable extent to the specification of purchasers, with the result that it is impracticable to standardize a model and accordingly no purpose is served by publishing a price. In the few cases where complete standard vehicles are available, the price with body has been added.

• Many chassis ate offered to-day with optional components. In such cases, after the word "Alternative," the different equipment and the variations entailed are enumerated.

Further deviations are often available, and a pros-. pective buyer who cannot find a model that precisely meets his requirements should communicate direct with the maker of the chassis that appears most nearly to fill his needs.

The abbreviations employed are explained on the opposite page.
