Messrs. E. N. Hadwin's Luxury Coaches, Ulverston, applied for permission to run to 38 new destinations. Eight of these, involving summer excursions and football matches, to which there were no objections. were granted. British Railways opposed the remaining destinations.

Mr. J. A. T. Hanlon. chairman, thought that in view of the fuel situation, and because no strong evidence of need had been shown, it would be better not to allow the applications at this time.

" If the fuel situation should change. we can stilt accept applications." said Mr. Hanlon.
