Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Geo. Bray and Co., Ltd., of Leeds, that the stin.ulating words concerning him v. Lich appeared in our issue of the iil ult. must have been contritruted, through some weird misirehension,'by a member of the stal of " Punch " ; that, however, is only the preamble to his letter, in which he points out, very rightly, hat I called the acetylene burner in question the Bray-Rom, but it should have been the Bray-Roni. '• !lope springs eternal in the human breast." So, perhaps, one of These days, our compositors will be so used to seeing the name in this journal in all manner of type that such a mistake would be the height of improbability.

My paragraph in last week's notes anent the development of golf-ball making amongst British tire or has revealed another name which must be added to the list. A letter reaches me frO1/1 my friend Mr. A. F. Gelder, of the North British Rubber Co., Ltd., and he very nobly encloses a ball in proof of his statement. It is very properly called the Clincher, and one of these near week-ends, which, in these busy times, begins on the Sabbath morning and finishes on the evening of the same day, I propose to put that ball to the test, and see if it is the same high grade as the many Clincher tires I have used.

One of these dark winter days I propose to brighten up this page with a sketch of Mr. Reginald Clayton, of Huddersfield, and I will, in my poor way, unburden my self cf soine personal impressions I have formed. I was piloted through the " Karrier-Car " factory last. week, and was sincerely pleased to note the progress made since my previous wit. This is to my mind an extraordinary example of pure enterprise and industry. However, itiot.e about. that later on ; meanwhile, I gather that in addition to London House. which has been established some time, Clayton's will open offices in Manchester and Birmingham.

The business in agricultural motors has made such advances during the past two years that from this date forward Mr. A. Hoffmann. so long associated with the Ivel agricultural motor, will devote his entire time to the interests of that conc?rn, and will resume his Continental journeyings, Hoffmann is H. polyglot and knows his Europe ex tremely well. This development. was marked in true British fashion by a dinner at Pa.ganis, Great Port land Street, London, W., on the 30th ult., at. which Mr. Rodakowski, the managing director of United Motor industries. Ltd., presided.

SomeLhing very like the solution of a problem was revealed to me the other day, not by any occult means, but by a practical demonstration. It has often occurred to me that in London there are hosts of busy men who have to make many and oftentimes distant calls, men who are probably managers, and who, from time to time, have many hours, perhaps whole days. of indoor duties. When they are making calls they probably need a motor conveyance more than anyone, but the uncartainty of it all will not justify a traveller's motor brougham as a business proposition. The solution is to purchase a taxicab complete with taximeter, and when it is not being used for a half-day or a day let the man go out and pick up fares ; a most essential feature is to find a good man, pay him a fixed wage, and only expect him to work the ordinary hours which would be taken up with an ordinary traveller's. brougham. I dropped across a very successful case not long ago the man is paid £3 a week wages. and the office in question is in Central London. so that he is soon in the main artery of the traffic and does not lose much time before picking up, and he reckons on being in the garage about 6.30 every night. I was assured by the managing director of the concern in question that it was quite a satisfactory and paying pro. position.
