Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

NORBERT DENTRESSANGLE Group has posted an 83% increase in revenue for the first half of the year, boosted by the acquisition of Christian Salvesen. The company, which made the £254m purchase in December 2007, says revenue rose to €1.6bn (£1.26bn).

Excluding the acquisition, group revenue was up 7.4%, and the company is aiming for full-year organic revenue growth of 6-8%.

A statement from ND says: "The group's performance once again reflects the strength of its positioning on the European transport and logistics market and the successful integration of Christian Salvesen."

Last week, ND appointed Francois Bertreau as chief executive to oversee the integration of Salvesen.

Bertreau who joined the ND group in 1998 as director of logistics„ replaced JeanClaude Michel, chief executive since 1998.

He says he is confident the group can reach its targets "despite a more challenging market".

Last week. ND also revealed it is holding consultations with staff over plans to close three depots, which put 150 jobs on the line ("Necessary change' at Norbert Dentressangle', CM 31 July).

An ND spokesman says the proposed closures are due to a need to 'streamline its network'.
