The award operates as from the first pay period following July 29.

LANCS DEALS APPROVED.

RRANCHESTER and Stockport CarIVIparations, in co-ordination with the North-Western Road Car Co., Ltd., were granted licences by the North-Western Traffic Commissioners, last week, to run jointly the Manchester-Woodford bus service which they have combined to acquire from Mr. J. Sharp (trading as Sharp's Motor Services) • for £10,500. The negotiations were carried through by Major D. W. Hollingworth.

The North-Western concern, at the same public sitting, was given authority to take over the North Wales express services of York Motors (Manchester), Ltd., and of Messrs. South Manchester Coachways. The York company runs the only express service through to Bangor. Both the selling parties agreed to exclude the North Wales resorts from their excursion and tour licences.

PRESTON WAGES APPEAL.

PRESTON Town Council is to appeal against the increased wages for

municipal transport operatives awarded under the new agreement between the Transport and General Workers Union and the Municipal Tramways and Transport Association.
