Change of Customer SHOULD a B-licensee be allowed to

change customers? This question was raised when Messrs. W. Holland and Sons, of Day Green Farm, Hassan, Sandbach, applied to the North-western Deputy Licensing Authority, at Chester, for a variation of conditions to permit the carriage of cattle within 35 miles, and grain for the Cheshire Farmers Supply Association within 25 miles.

Mr. H. Backhouse, for the applicants, said that Messrs. Holland had carried for the Association in the basic year.

Mr. P. Kershaw, for the railways, said that, in the original application, Messrs. Holland included two custom era and had chosen to specify one in their licence. Now Messrs. Holland wished to replace the named customer by the Cheshire Association. Mr. Kershaw contended that the applicants had no right to change from one customer to another, after making a choice in the first place.

Mr. Backhouse replied that, unless the Authority saw some good reason to the contrary, the customer should be -free to choose his carrier. In his opinion, the Cheshire Farmers Association was entitled to Messrs. Holland's services.

The licence was granted as before, with permission to carry for the Association within 15 miles.
